open book on table

Winter break is the perfect time to catch up with friends, family and sleep! With all that free time on your hands you may find yourself without anything to do, so why not pick up a book? Whether to educate, relax, or explore new topics of interest, there are tons of new exciting titles out there to dive into (and you won’t have to take notes!)

Here’s a list of 5 great books to check out while you’re out of class for the next month.

The Defining Decade: Why Your Twenties Matter and How To Make The Most Of Them Now by Meg Jay 1. The Defining Decade: Why Your Twenties Matter and How To Make The Most Of Them Now by Meg Jay – Our twenties are looked upon in two ways: either we are just older teenagers or fully fledged adults. Do we really fall into either category? This book explores science of the twenty something years with stories of twenty somethings themselves. The result is a book that provides the tools to make the most of your time in your twenties.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn book cover2. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn – On the morning of Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary as presents are being wrapped and preparations made, Amy disappears. This book has plenty of twists and turns to keep you on the edge until the end.

How to Boil Water by Food Network Studios book cover3. How to Boil Water by Food Network Studios – If you only know how to make ramen and toast, then you should definitely pick this book up. It has tons of easy, beginner friendly recipes including comfort foods (which are great when you’re away from home). It’s also filled with tips, hints, and tricks for those who don’t yet know their way around the kitchen.

Girl Boss by Sophia Amoruso book cover4. #GirlBoss by Sophia Amoruso – At some point in our lives we all feel like we aren’t at the place we know we were truly meant to be. In this book, Sophia Amoruso, the founder and CEO of the popular online fashion store NastyGal, chronicles how she went from a “thief to a chief” (executive officer that is!). It gives observations, anecdotes, and a solid message that success doesn’t come from one set path.

Humans of New York by Brandon Stanton book cover5.
